Meet the star of Little House on the Prairie!

Thirteen-year-old Danielle Chuchran plays Mary 
Ingalls in the mini-series Little House on the 
Prairie. The series is about a frontier family 
moving in their covered wagon from Wisconsin 
to Kansas, where they start a new life on the 
prairie.

So there are lots of exciting things that 
happen to Mary and her family in the show?
There are actually. One of my favorite scenes 
is when the prairie fire happens, and it's 
reaching the little house they had just built 
in Kansas. I mean it was so realistic I actually 
felt like I was in this fire because the smoke 
was so heavy that you could hardly breathe!

There was real fire!?
Actually, yeah! It was a controlled fire, but 
the smoke that came off of it was just ugh! Man, 
it just burned your eyes like crazy!

That's scary! So do you have any celebrity 
crushes?
Um, well, In Pirates of the Caribbean -- don't 
laugh -- I thought Orlando Bloom was kind of 
cute in one of the scenes when they were 
fighting.

Oh don't be embarrassed! We think he's cute, 
too. So now that you've got a taste of what it 
was like to live on the frontier over a hundred 
years ago, is life better now or then?
Well sometimes you'd think, "Why don't we just 
use this?" and the director would be like, "Well 
they didn't really have that back then." I think 
I could live back then for two weeks.
